About the PERSISTers

PERSISTers was founded in Wauwatosa, a suburb of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 2016 by women called by events to become more engaged citizens. We are more than 1000 strong, growing to include people from other Wisconsin communities and states. We come together in ongoing work to address inequities in our community, state and country and to support each other when progress toward that ideal feels difficult alone.

Mission Statement

We are intergenerational advocates who gather together to learn, share, support and act to create a more just and equitable democracy.

Our Core Values

ACTION - targeted behaviors, in stages, that can bring change

COMMUNITY - a welcoming intergenerational group with diverse experiences who share common attitudes and goals

JUSTICE - a commitment to the pursuit of equity & fairness

KNOWLEDGE - facts, skills & awareness gained through experience & learning

HOPE - a search for and belief in future good
